Racist Attack! Stop It!

Police are investigating a violent racial attack in Christchurch this morning.
At about 5am three masked men forced their way into a Mandeville Street home and attacked a 22-year-old Chinese student.

Detective Sergeant Scott Anderson said the victim had answered a knock at the door when the men broke in and started assaulting him with bottles.

"The information we have at this stage indicates that the attack is racial as a number of derogatory comments were made to the victim during the attack and the offenders left without taking any property."

Police were also investigating two burglaries to the same address over the past week to see whether they were related to this morning's incident, Anderson said.

The victim suffered minor cuts and bruising and did not require hospitalisation.

The attackers are described as European with shaven heads, aged between 17 and 23-years-old.

Don't you think that it is scary when someone attack for you for no reason but did so just because of who you are.

I just don't understand racists with all their hatred. Even in CANTA Issue 16, August 1, 2007 (University of Canterbury Student's Magazine), one student simply stated that one wouldn't sit near a Maori in a bus exchange.

Isn't that just plain right silly?

There are so many cases of races being attacked by other races, not just here but in other parts of the world as well. Imagine innocent people who were standing on streets being hurled by insults, thrown rotten eggs or being punched just because of their skin and colour of which they should be proud of as it symbolises who they are.

Think about it, does it make a difference to motivate such attacks, would it help or achieve anything to mankind? It would only bring racial tension and a sense of insecurity. There is absolutely nothing to be proud of.

It's simply heart throbbing to hear something like this could still exist in this modern world where we call ourselves civilised.
